Testing the Omnivore Hypothesis in Russia

In the last thirty years, a significant shift from homology to omnivore argument has occurred in musical preference studies. Studies on mainly come North and South America, Western sometimes Eastern Europe. To best of our knowledge, there are no empirical tests omnivorousness Russia. The aim this paper is reveal preferences Russia, analyzes links between preferences, social-demographic profiles, tolerance. Our research also emphasizes territory dimension. setting Perm Region. A survey 2,400 Region citizens analyzed using principal component analysis linear regression provides evidence for research. findings do not indicate tastes Russia that contradicts conclusions other cultures. Instead finding pattern, we found Bourdieu-like patterns classical versus pop music taste nostalgic contemporary taste. Representatives each pattern have specific profile. urbanization factor influences as well. discusses limitations directions further work.
